Franklin Half Dollar obverse with sculpted Benjamin Franklin portrait and 250 privy

The Obverse: Benjamin Franklin

The first Franklin Half Dollar was struck from 1948 to 1963. However, it is still one of the most loved U.S. coins today. Originally, John R. Sinnock drew the portrait of Benjamin Franklin. Now his design comes to life in deep, lifelike relief.

As a result, you can see every curl of hair and every fold of the coat. The obverse also reads “Liberty” and “In God We Trust.” In addition, it carries the date 2026 and a special “250” privy.

The Reverse: The Liberty Bell

On the back, the Liberty Bell takes center stage. Then its yoke and famous crack stand out in full 3D form. Next to the bell, you will find “E Pluribus Unum” and a small eagle, just like the original coin.

The reverse also reads “Oglala Lakota Sioux America” and “Half Dollar.” As a result, the coin pairs a Founding Father with a lasting symbol of freedom.

First, raw coins ship on a sculpted stand. Plus, each one comes in an illustrated collector box.

Beyond Relief™ Technology

In short, Beyond Relief begins where normal minting ends.

Past Normal Limits

First, Michael Gaudioso worked with three expert firms to create this method for the Franklin Half Dollar. Because of it, key parts of the design seem to rise right out of the coin.

29 mm of Depth

On the Franklin Half Dollar, the portrait and Liberty Bell rise 29 mm from a 60 mm coin. In contrast, most high relief coins rise only a few millimeters.

Antique Proof Finish

Additionally, the antiqued finish settles into the low spots of the silver. As a result, every raised line and detail stands out.

Franklin Half Dollar Privy Marks

Additionally, two small marks add big meaning for collectors.

The “250” Privy

Gaudioso designed this privy for America’s 250th birthday. Specifically, a key sits between the “7” and the “6” to stand for 1776. It also honors Franklin’s famous tests with electricity. See more 250th anniversary coins.

What is the Coming To Life series?

Basically, the series turns classic U.S. coin designs into deep 3D sculpture. Also, XceptionalMint makes each release. First came the Buffalo Nickel. Then came the Bicentennial Quarter. Now the Franklin Half Dollar is the fourth release.
