The Waterloo Medal 2-Coin Set pairs the 2024 Allied Leaders coin with the 2025 Victory coin. Both are 2 oz silver £5 coins graded NGC PF70 Matte and hand-signed by Martin Jennings. In addition, both carry the Advance Releases label from The Royal Mint.
Benedetto Pistrucci spent thirty years engraving the Waterloo Medal, yet it was never struck. Now The Royal Mint has struck his design as legal tender for the first time. Because British law requires the monarch on the obverse, the Mint split the design across two coins. Together, the Allied Leaders and Victory coins complete the Waterloo Medal.
The Allied Leaders coin shows the allied leaders side by side, ringed by classical figures and chariots. Meanwhile, the Victory coin fills its field with classical figures, horses, and a chariot. Martin Jennings’ portrait of King Charles III appears on the obverse of both Waterloo Medal coins. The photographs show representative holders, front and back.
Collectors of The Great Engravers series will want both sides of Pistrucci’s design. Moreover, a matching pair with the same grade and signature keeps the set consistent. As a result, this Waterloo Medal set suits series collectors and gift buyers alike.
